Hacking for Hustlers
An intensive, one day coding workshop for business-minded beginners.
Learn Ruby, HTML, CSS & JavaScript and supercharge your startup and career in tech

What is Hacking for Hustlers?

Hacking for Hustlers is a one-day programming course specifically designed for non-technical business students and professionals.

H4H is specifically designed for non-technical business students and professionals to provide a full walk-through of the web development process in just one (intensive) day.

Our course is taught by experienced developers and skilled teachers who absolutely love what they do. We make the course more accessible to all by offering it in a convenient one-day format and also by offering it close to you (on campus), saving you commute time and expense.

We are tired of all the online coding tutorials that have graduation rates of under 5% - they just don't work.

H4H is designed for students who want to empower themselves with a deeper, hands-on understanding of web app development, packaged in a format they can digest.

If you're a non-technical entrepreneur, you don't need to wait for the superhero CTO - you can do enough yourself to prove your business to investors. If you're looking to work at a cool tech startup, you need to do more than just take an entrepreneurship class or go to tech-meetups. We can help you "walk the walk" and show startups that you're serious about tech.

Testimonials from our students

I would recommend this course to every MBA...Nimit and David are incredibly patient and knowledgeable, and their passion for this space is visible and very motivating!
I would recommend this course to every MBA. The course does a great job of preparing you to have necessary conversations with developers, and even how to use basic tools yourself (I can’t believe I made my own website!). Nimit and David are incredibly patient and knowledgeable, and their passion for this space is visible and very motivating!

I learned a ton, had a great time with Nimit and David, and I'm pretty sure I added more to my marketability in those 12 hours than in my two years at HBS!
I have to admit, after signing up for the 12 hour coding class with H4H, I was really nervous. I worried that the material would be over my head (I didn't even know what HTML was), or that I would burn out by lunch. Instead, I learned a ton, had a great time with Nimit and David, and I'm pretty sure I added more to my marketability to future employers in those 12 hours than in my two years at HBS!

I was pretty anxious about learning to code as I had virtually zero experience coming into the class...I'd highly recommend the class to anyone thinking about learning programming, no matter how little you know or how nervous you might be!
I was pretty anxious about learning to code as I had virtually zero experience coming into the class. After spending 13 hours learning 4 different programming languages from scratch, I'm feeling pretty accomplished! I'm excited to continue learning to code on my own, communicate better with developers in my full-time role at LinkedIn, and hopefully one day soon build my own sites and apps. My parents, both software programmers, are also really happy that I finally took their advice to begin learning to code! I'd highly recommend the class to anyone thinking about learning programming, no matter how little you know or how nervous you might be!

I really enjoyed Hacking 4 Hustlers because it quickly delivered the foundation upon which to learn more without feeling intimidated. Nimit and David held our hand through the rough parts and quickly showed us that it wasn't really that scary once you understood the basics.
I really enjoyed Hacking 4 Hustlers because it quickly delivered the foundation upon which to learn more without feeling intimidated. Nimit and David held our hand through the rough parts and quickly showed us that it wasn't really that scary once you understood the basics, opening the doors to future learning for myself and my classmates. The pace was aggressive and the material substantial, but I felt like I always had a lifeline nearby if I started to sink.

Having tried other courses unsuccessfully, coding was intimidating to me. MBA Code School allowed me the time to fail at, and then grasp each concept. I am now significantly more confident writing and discussing code!

Hacking for Hustlers provides tremendous insight into the world of code. In just a day, I was able to learn the basics of html/css/javascript, setup my own website, and start developing the backend through Ruby on Rails. If this sounds like gibberish then the course is definitely for you.
As an MBA, we often talk about developers (aka hackers) in vague terms, not really knowing what they do, how they do it, or how long it takes. Hacking for Hustlers provides tremendous insight into the world of code. In just a day, I was able to learn the basics of html/css/javascript, setup my own website, and start developing the backend through Ruby on Rails. If this sounds like gibberish then the course is definitely for you. You'll leave with the insight that coding isn't scary and maybe even the inspiration to keep learning, enabling you to make your start-up dreams a reality.
Andrew Smolenski, Wharton MBA
I found the course to be incredibly useful...Nimit and David are extremely competent and interested in teaching. They also have the valuable background of entrepreneurs that make their knowledge and teaching much more relevant.
I found the course to be incredibly useful. I’ve been independently trying to learn various elements of front end and computer programming and found it difficult to manage the process on my own. Nimit and David are extremely competent and interested in teaching. They also have the valuable background of entrepreneurs that make their knowledge and teaching much more relevant.
Brett Lewis, Wharton MBA
I really liked the high-level, very practical overview of different options for how to approach web programming. It was super helpful to see the entire picture and how it's used in the startup world.

Course Details

Hacking for Hustlers is divided into three logical parts: front-end, back-end, and growth hacking.

  • Front-End

We take you from understanding basic webpages, to learning HTML, CSS, JavaScript. Then you'll launch your own personal dot-com website & blog.

  • Back-End

We'll give you an introduction to programming Ruby and walk you through launching web applications using Ruby web frameworks like Sinatra and Rails. You'll go all the way through to launching a live web application to the public!

  • Growth-Hacking

Here we will discuss common growth hacking tools that web pros use to make smart decisions. We'll give you real-world tips that can help a non-technical person add a ton of value to a startup.

  • Questions & Discussions

Beyond the planned curriculum, there is also ample time throughout the day to ask questions and have relevant discussions.

After this class, you will feel like you have taken a guided tour in and out of the dense forest of web software development.

You will have your own dot-com and cool live Ruby app to show for your day's effort. You'll understand the tools and lingo that developers use daily and how to interface with them. You will not, of course, be ready to go as a full-time developer (that's not the point of the class), but the next time you login to a web application, you will see it for all it's parts and pieces and be able to tell the difference between them!
